Mexico’s most wanted man is dead. On February 22, the Mexican Army killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes “El Mencho” the feared leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco. The killing immediately triggered waves of violence across Mexico, with armed groups setting fire to stores, banks, and vehicles, blocking highways, and forcing tourists in Puerto Vallarta into shelter-in-place. Meanwhile, President Trump’s 10-to-15 day ultimatum to Iran for a nuclear deal ticks down and on Tuesday, Ukraine marks four years of full-scale Russian invasion. This is the most volatile week of 2026 so far.
