Why is Mr. Deep State disingenuous and dishonest lobbyist, masquerading as a “supporter of Democracy” in Pakistan?
Let’s dissect through Zalmay Khalilzad’s deep state propaganda and his penchant for international chaos. His suggestion to prioritize sanctions on a country’s missile program over targeting individuals responsible for the theft of a political mandate is deeply flawed and ignores the core issues at stake. By focusing solely on state-level sanctions, he inadvertently shifts the burden of punishment on the defense of Pakistan’s safety and security of general population—innocent citizens, who are already victims of political oppression and economic instability. Meanwhile, the very individuals responsible for undermining democracy remain largely untouched, continuing to consolidate power and perpetuate their authoritarian agendas.
Sanctioning individuals rather than state institutions or programs strikes at the root of the problem: the corrupt and authoritarian elites who have seized the people’s political mandate. When sanctions are directed at these individuals—targeting their assets, travel, and ability to operate within the international system—it directly limits their capacity to further destabilize the country. Blanket sanctions on missile programs or other state-level initiatives is to disarm Pakistan and weaken Pakistan against its adversaries, who pose existential threats to Pakistan’s national security.
Hint: Those who have sanctioned Pakistan’s long range missile program and see it as threat are same folks who @SMQureshiPTI called out on @CNN interview—- “people with deep pockets”
It is ironic that he is an advocate for sanctions, yet same sanctions have failed to address the role of specific individuals and factions—including Donald Bloom—in sabotaging the very democratic processes you claim to support. By prioritizing state-level sanctions, you distract from the critical need to hold power-hungry elites accountable for manipulating elections, suppressing dissent, and eroding institutions meant to protect the people’s voice.
Khalilzad’s advocacy is less about fostering accountability and more about perpetuating a system where the powerful remain unscathed.
In Urdu, we say
کہیں پہ نگاہیں کہیں پہ نشانہ
Khalilzad’s stance is not only counterproductive but also hypocritical. Advocating for blanket sanctions while turning a blind eye to—or even facilitating—the sabotage of democracy is a betrayal of the principles of justice and fairness. Your involvement, whether direct or indirect, in eroding democratic systems exposes your advocacy as self-serving and strategically disingenuous.
Sanctions should serve as a tool for justice, not collective punishment on safety and security of Pakistani people. It is time to hold those who sabotage democracy accountable—not hide behind policies that embolden regimes that are committing war crimes in Gaza and occupied Kashmir.
